Product design
In my role within product design, I focused on implementing a more minimalistic and calming interface, improving user interactions, and bringing the brand to the product. This involved enhancing UI components, initiating a new design system (explore it here), and fine-tuning the UX. I collaborated closely with Cory Grunkemeyer, the Lead UX designer at Gitpod, as well as the engineering team.
Some product explorations, showcased below, you might see in production, some might be there soon, and others will always stay an idea residing within Figma.
Workspace list
The primary challenge in this task was to find a method for displaying various states of a workspace in a clear and organized manner, as well as defining the most useful content in the workspace entry.
Toast design
The problem statement for this screen was, how to show behavioral-based information within the dashboard and how to vary between different levels of urgency while ensuring that notifications are maximally helpful while minimizing disruption.
Join organization modal
The key goal for this design revision was to add the display of existing members within an organization and refine the overall user interface.
Pop-up modals
In this exploration, I experimented with techniques to emphasize pop-up modals against their background by incorporating a blur effect and a highlighting shadow. Additionally, I refined the overall user interface.
Loading screen explorations
The challenge in designing loading screens is to ensure they don't feel disruptive or annoying but rather offer a joyful overview of what's happening next. This exploration focuses on creating a loading screen that fosters a sense of calmness while delivering informational value through the display of logs.
Tool tips
New users might need extra clarity about icon functions, also remembering shortcuts for every tool can be tough. A hover state with tooltips solves both, enhancing the intuitiveness of product interaction. It's worth considering showing tooltips selectively for new users or infrequent shortcut users to offer timely assistance.
Onboarding flow explorations
This early exploration focuses on onboarding new users to the product. Our aim was to provide them with clear, joyful onboarding guide that facilitate a smooth start and an enjoyable experience.
